TOKYO — The Beatles were prisoners of love during their four-day stay in Japan.

The love came from thousands of well-meaning Japanese fans who flocked to their concerts and teen-agers who "stood guard" almost around the clock at the Tokyo Hilton Hotel, where the Liverpool lads were virtual captives.

While many of the world's top rockers were heading over to Coachella music festival to party, one was chilling out. Sir Paul McCartney decided to spend some relaxing time with his wife and friends in Beverly Hills, California. The 70-year-old Beatles star appeared cool, calm and collected as he left the Four Seasons Hotel with Nancy Shevell on Friday afternoon.

TENERIFE is celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' first visit to the island with a 13-day programme that will delight beatlemaniacs and music fans alike.

From 27th April to 9th May 2013, the northern town of Puerto de la Cruz will host a great array of music concerts, film screenings and exhibitions, with the aim to honour one of the best British bands of all time.

Newbridge Silverware Museum of Style Icons in partnership with Julien’s Auctions has announced an exclusive exhibition featuring a very rare Beatles guitar played by both John Lennon and George Harrison.

The rare Vox guitar played by both legendary artists is what true rock n’ roll is made of. The striking custom guitar built by Mike Bennett and Dickey Denney was gifted to “Magic Alex” Mardas by John Lennon in 1967.

Say that you have a talented young band and you want to sound like the Beatles. What could help more than to record at Abbey Road Studio in Studio 2 using some of the same microphones? It is possible. Abbey Road Studio may now be rented, and the studio has kept much of the recording equipment it has used since its opening in 1931, including a vast array of microphones. You can learn more in the big, beautiful photohistory Abbey Road: The Best Studio in the World by Alistair Lawrence with a forward by Sir George Martin.

Backstage with Paul McCartney's Son James 13 April, 2013 - 0 Comments

Despite growing up in the shadow of his rock star father -- former Beatle Paul McCartney -- James McCartney has mostly remained out of the limelight over the years... until now! ET recently sat down with the singer/songwriter in London as he prepares to follow in his famous father's footsteps by releasing his first full-length album and embarking an a major US tour.

Before incessant screaming and the rigors of touring took their toll, the Beatles had become one of the most polished live bands on the road. From 1962-1965, the group performed on 52 BBC programs, beginning with a March 1, 1962 appearance on “Teenager’s Turn-Here We Go,” and ending with the special “The Beatles Invite You to Take a Ticket to Ride” (recorded on May 26, 1965)

(Introduction: In this interview we conducted by email, Alan Mann talks about his newly published “The Teacher – Tony Sheridan,” a biography of Tony Sheridan. The book is the product of extensive interviews with Sheridan and contains some fascinating insights into the Beatles in their early days.

He got Sheridan to open about about rumors that he provided the Beatles with drugs (“utterly preposterous and insulting”).
