Jane Asher to launch budget bakeware range with Poundland

17 March, 2014 - 0 Comments

Budget chain Poundland is bracing itself for a bun fight when it launches an exclusive bakeware range by top class cookery queen Jane Asher. For the £1-a-piece products are expected to sell like hot cakes when they hit shelves next month. Store bosses reckon shoppers keen to bag a baking bargain will clean out stock within hours with savings of up to £19 on some items.

Jane’s pastel coloured ceramic bowls for a bargain quid can cost £20 in posh kitchen stores, where basic cake tins are £10.99 and mini kitchen scales £13.99. Her extensive line of 50 baking essentials from bowls and mini scales to tins, trays and silicone cake cases are poised to spark a great British bake off across the nation. In her trademark pastel colours - mint, lilac, pale blue and pink - Jane Asher’s Kitchen range is the discount store’s first ever celebrity collection. The actress, writer and ace baker - who was engaged to former Beatle Paul McCartney in the Sixties - has carved a career as one of the country’s most respected cake experts and has her own party cake business. She unveiled her value for money collection yesterday and confessed she was unsure whether cheap as chips Poundland could meet her high expectations.
