Lennon: Through a Glass Onion Plays Off-Broadway's Union Square Theater, Starting Tonight

Lennon: Through a Glass Onion, which celebrates the genius, music and phenomenon of John Lennon, arrives in New York Oct. 3 at The Union Square Theater. Created and performed by Australian actor/musician John R. Waters and singer/pianist Stewart D'Arrietta, the 20-week limited engagement will officially open Off-Broadway Oct. 15. Part concert and part biography,Lennon: Through a Glass Onion, press notes state, "reveals the essence of the life and astonishing talent of one of the most admired icons of the past century with a story and 31 songs." Attendees can expect to hear such tunes as "Imagine," "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Revolution," "Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds," "All You Need is Love," "Come Together," "Help," "Working Class Hero," "Mother" and "Jealous Guy," among others. "Rather than impersonate, I want to evoke Lennon's honesty, bitter-sweet humor, self criticism and disdain for pomposity," said Waters in a previous statement. "Having performed this piece in cities around the world for the last two decades, I am thrilled to make my New York debut with this show."

Lennon: Through a Glass Onion was first performed on a small stage at the Tilbury Hotel in Sydney in 1992. It has since played The Sydney Opera House as well as a three-month engagement in London's West End.
