Ram may be considered Paul McCartney's second solo album after the breakup of The Beatles, but it should really be considered his first album as "Paul McCartney, the ex-Beatle". Ram was originally released 41 years ago on May 17, 1971 and today is being released as a remastered edition in several different formats.
A rare photograph showing The Beatles walking backwards across Abbey Road has sold for £16,000 at auction this afternoon. The snap shows the band walking right to left across the zebra crossing outside the London studio where they made their 1969 album, the opposite direction to the photograph which appears on the album cover.
The original printing plates for John Lennon's first book have sold at auction for £4,800. The metal plates were used to print words and illustrations by the Beatle in the 1964 book John Lennon, In His Own Write. Also A call sheet from A Hard Day's Night signed by all four band members and Victor Spinetti sold for £3,600.

New to the NY Times graphic books hardcover best-seller list this week, at No. 7, is "Baby's In Black," which chronicles the relationship between the artist Astrid Kirchherr and Stuart Sutcliffe, who met in Hamburg during the earliest days of the Beatles. The graphic novel feels authentic, no doubt thanks to the extensive input from Astrid.
To accompany director Martin Scorsese's documentary on George Harrison, "Living in the Material World," Harrison's widow Olivia teamed up with Giles Martin -- son of legendary Beatles producer George Martin -- to curate Early Takes: Volume 1, a complation songs that go hand in hand with the film. The two scoured the former Beatle's archives for 18 months, searching for the most appropriate way to represent his artistic growth.
Five days after his scheduled performance in Guadalajara, Sir Paul McCartney will play a massive free concert in Mexico City on May 10. Fans may have to queue for hours to gain a decent vantage point of the former Beatle, but they will not have to pay for a ticket. Sponsors will cover the costs, according to Marcelo Ebrard, the mayor of Mexico City.
