Paul McCartney ditches hair colouring and goes for the silver fox look

For many years Sir Paul fought off the telltale sign of ageing by colouring his hair a rich chestnut brown, but now he has decided to embrace the natural look.

Last September he appeared on US TV with salt'n'pepper locks, below, that revealed hints of grey for the first time.

Fans commended him for his new look saying he "should have done it years ago" and that he looked like a "stunning silver fox".

When Paul, John Lennon, Sir Ringo Starr and George Harrison first found success in the 1960s they were almost as famous for their mop-top hair cuts as they were for their early hits.

But by the time they released Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1967 the Fab Four each had their own individual hippy style.
